Compost tea is a liquid extract produced by combining compost with microbial food materials and highly oxygenated water. The resulting extract contains high numbers of beneficial bacteria, fungi, protozoa, and nematodes that are all part of the critical “living element” of a healthy soil.
These microbes play a crucial role in breaking down organic matter into the raw materials needed for plant growth and development. Tea applications are especially helpful in landscape settings that have been disturbed by site construction, newly installed landscapes, those that are poorly drained, or drought stressed.
We apply the tea by drenching the soil surface, or by root injection, depending on the situation.
