Root Zone Remediation

Soil compaction, sandy, infertile soils, improper mulching, and trunk flare disorders often prevent newly-installed landscape plants from flourishing and cause premature death of established trees. We use a variety of the latest tools and tactics to help solve these landscape issues:

  • air excavation to expose buried trunk flares and root collar deformities
  • soil aeration to break up soils compacted by construction activity, vehicles – even foot traffic
  • integration of compost deep into the soil profile to improve water retention and long-term fertility
  • surface mulching with our patented Forest Floor Mulch® Mix to protect the root zone, aid in water absorption, and restore the nutrient cycling process

The root zone is critical for the long-term health and stability of the tree structure. Think of it as the foundation upon which the entire tree rests.
